- Edmonton was named Canada's most open city for the fifth year in a row by Public Sector Digest. "Edmonton was given top marks largely due its engagement with external organizations, such as local businesses and schools, to craft publicly-available data sets," reports the Edmonton Journal.
- Edmonton's Asian community says "hate-motivated attacks are a growing concern," following Tuesday's shooting near Atlanta where eight people died.
- The provincial government is planning to "introduce a $30 annual fee this spring for people who random camp on public lands." CBC News reported that the province will likely exempt Indigenous people from the permit cost.
- Coun. Andrew Knack has announced he is seeking re-election in Ward Nakota Isga. While Knack considered a run for mayor over the past year, he said in a blog post on March 18 that he believes there will be one or more candidates with whom he shares similar values. "I also believe a mayor who better reflects the diversity of our city would be best suited to address the serious issue of equity in Edmonton," he wrote.
