- As winter approaches, city officials are reminding Edmontonians of the two-phase parking ban. Phase 1 applies to business districts, bus routes and arterial roads, which are expected to be cleared within 48 hours. In Phase 2, the ban shifts to residential streets. The two-phase parking ban was announced last winter, but never came into effect due to lack of snow.
- The City of Edmonton announced that it has selected Hyundai Rotem Company as its preferred supplier of light-rail vehicles for the Valley Line West LRT. The contract is expected to be finalized by Dec. 2, with 40 LRVs to be delivered starting in 2025.
- Eighty-eight percent of Edmonton Public Schools staff have declared they are are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and 96% of Edmonton Catholic Schools employees are fully or partially vaccinated. CBC found that 26 of Alberta's 63 school boards will require vaccination proof or routine testing by January 2022.
- Two Edmonton women are finalists for the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award. Jenna Butler is nominated for her account of beekeeping in Revery: A Year of Bees, and Dr. Norma Dunning, a professor at the University of Alberta, is nominated for Tainna: The Unseen Ones, a collection of short stories.
