Corrections
We are committed to correcting errors in a transparent and efficient way.
When we make an error of fact in a story, we correct the text on our website and in our archives. At the bottom of the story, we disclose that the text has been corrected, and we indicate what was changed.
When we make an error of fact in an email newsletter, we update that edition on our website and in our archives, adding a note disclosing that the text has been corrected and indicating what was changed. Except in very rare circumstances, we do not re-send corrected versions of our email newsletters. On occasion, we will disclose to readers of our daily newsletter that a previous edition was corrected, linking to that corrected edition. These decisions are based on the gravity of the error.
When we make an error of fact on a podcast episode, we generally correct the error in the next episode. If we deem the error to be particularly grievous, we may add a correction to the podcast show notes, and in some cases, we will consider reuploading a corrected version of the episode, disclosing to listeners that we have done so.
Generally speaking, when we become aware of a misspelling, typo, broken link, or mistake of that nature, we simply correct it in our content management system and on the web without disclosure.
On occasion, we may determine that our text is technically correct but would benefit from clarification to better deliver the message. In those instances, we issue a clarification in the same manner as we convey corrections, disclosing the update on the story or in the newsletter.
Information that was accurate at the time of publication but is no longer accurate does not necessarily constitute an error. If we become aware of updated information, we will endeavour to incorporate it into subsequent coverage if a clarification or correction is not in order.
