This week, a public hearing will take place on May 15 and city council will meet on May 16, with a continuation scheduled for May 17 if required.
Here are some of the key items on the agenda:
- Draft agreements with Bissell Centre and Boyle Street Community Services for the operation of day shelters are available for review, though council must approve budget and agreement motions in order for the projects to proceed.
- Council will receive a verbal update on OP12, the operating budget amendment that requests $60 million in savings over the 2023-2026 budget cycle, plus another $240 million in reallocations to council's priorities. Last month, city manager Andre Corbould told Taproot he felt the city was "definitely on track" with the required cuts.
- A rezoning application from Beljan Development would allow for the development of a 35-square-metre rooftop enclosure on the historic Crawford Block in Old Strathcona, which would accommodate a small kitchen and bar.
