  • According to the latest housing affordability report from Oxford Economics, Edmonton is the fourth-most affordable city among 30 metro areas in North America, behind only Chicago, Quebec City, and Columbus.
  • City manager Andre Corbould has announced that Stacey Padbury is the new deputy city manager of financial and corporate services with the City of Edmonton. Padbury, who also takes on the chief financial officer role, has worked at the city since December 2013. Former CFO Mary Persson joined the Government of Alberta as deputy minister of infrastructure in August.
  • The Edmonton Oilers will host an Indigenous night on Nov. 1, premiering Indigenous design elements that were created with consultant Lance Cardinal. "While it is lawful to protest on the legislature grounds, the Crown Property Regulation prohibits "residing, camping or sleeping" on the grounds overnight," reports Postmedia.
