What “Sponsored” means
Taproot Edmonton sells advertising and sponsorships to help pay for our work, including newsletters, podcasts, and other intelligence products.
When something is paid for by an advertiser or sponsor, we identify it with the teal Sponsored label, with language such as “sponsored by,” or both. The label is meant to help readers quickly tell the difference between Taproot editorial work and paid messages.

Explore promotion optionsWhere sponsored messages may appear
Newsletter ads
Ads may appear inside The Pulse or roundups, often as a sponsored block with an image, copy, and a link.
Newsletter sponsors
A sponsor may support a newsletter, such as a roundup, over time and receive recognition in the edition and on related pages.
Podcast ads
Sponsored messages may be read by a host, inserted as an audio spot, or included in podcast-related web and email promotion.
Sponsored content
Some paid articles or article sponsorships, such as support for a crossword or another feature, are identified as sponsored.
How to recognize it
Look for the teal Sponsored label. You may see it in the footer of a sponsored message, beside an article listing, or near the name of the organization that paid for the placement.
Sponsored messages are promotional. They may invite you to buy tickets, register for an event, sign up, listen, donate, visit a website, or learn more about an advertiser or sponsor.
Sponsored content may be supplied by an advertiser or sponsor, adapted with Taproot, or created with Taproot's help. Either way, it is paid promotional material and is separate from our independent editorial coverage.

Reach curious Edmontonians with useful local information
This is an example of the sponsored block readers may see in The Pulse or in a roundup edition. Sponsors provide a short message, an image, and a link that helps readers learn more or take action.
