Events Roundup
March 5, 2026
This week, we're highlighting an event pick by Taproot curator/reporter, Stephanie Swensrude. Stephanie recommends The Shoe Project a national initiative that amplifies the voices of Canadian immigrant and refugee women through storytelling.
The Shoe Project
š
Saturday, March 7 7:30 PM
š Gateway Theatre
Presented by SkirtsAfire in partnership with YWCA Edmonton, with support by Workshop West Playwrights' Theatre who was the first to bring this project to Edmonton. Shoes accompany us on our journeys. They are with us wherever we go, they say who we are, where we came from, and where we are going. These performances will open your heart and transform your perceptions of what it means to be Canadian.
Here's what Stephanie had to say:
"I was blown away when I watched The Shoe Project during last year's festival. The immigrant and refugee women told stories that are funny, heartbreaking, and inspiring. It's an important initiative that gives a voice to those who deserve more representation."
