Sudsy streetcar series is about to leave the station

By

The Common's popular streetcar cask series is back on the tracks for 2026, and trips across the High Level Bridge Streetcar are beginning to sell out. If you want to take a ride on the streetcar while enjoying craft beer this summer, you'd best act quickly.

The Common (with participation from sister establishments Dolly's Cocktails and Fu's Repair Shop) mostly partners with Alberta breweries for the events. They typically have two seatings on Thursdays for a bit north of $60, which covers the fare, cask beer, and snacks on board, and a welcome drink at The Common upon departure. Cask beer, which is an ancient method of analog brewing re-popularized during the craft beer boom, comes from many breweries you might know. At a glance, Polyrhythm Brewing, Sea Change Brewing Co., Campio Brewing, and Odd Company are among those on the roster. Aside from beer, Dolly's presents a Terroir Symposium event with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails themed to the streetcar stops on May 27.

You may want to raise a glass to the streetcar while you can, as the City of Edmonton plans on rehabilitating the High Level Bridge soon, though a precise timeline has yet to be shared. The streetcars, operated by the Edmonton Radial Railway Society, run across the bridge between Jasper Plaza and Whyte Avenue, a route that is likely to be disrupted or modified once construction begins.
