Events Roundup
April 23, 2026
This week, we're highlighting an event pick by Taproot co-founder Mack Male. Mack recommends Edmonton Indie Bookstore Extravaganza, the third annual celebration of Indie bookstores.
Edmonton Indie Bookstore Extravaganza
📅 April 25 to April 26
Visit as many participating bookstores as you can on April 25-26, 2026 and get entered to win multiple prizes, with contributions from each indie!
Here's what Mack had to say:
"Even though I mostly borrow e-books from EPL, I love a good independent bookstore. They add such vitality to our community as a home for culture, events, and much more. This year's event features a free-to-ride Bookstore Bus and a self-guided bike map so there's no need to drive around to each store. Get out and celebrate these important stores that contribute so much to our city!"
Spring stage productions
A diverse lineup of performances:
- Until April 25: Waiting for the Parade at Walterdale Theatre
- Until April 26: Casey and Diana at Citadel Theatre
- April 30-May 3: Jabulani Arts Festival at Roxy Theatre
- April 30-May 16: Request Programme at Fringe Theatre Arts Barns
- Until May 16: Rat Academy 2: Gnaw and Order at Rapid Fire Exchange
Ballad, Blues, and Boogie, all in one package!
On May 3, Edmonton Winds wraps up the season with Ballad, Blues, and Boogie — a high‑energy fusion of wind band, jazz, and blues! Joined by Calgary's legendary Cappy Smart Band, the concert features local soloists and a whole lot of talent! Don't miss this swinging season finale.
