Events Roundup
April 30, 2026
This week, we're highlighting an event pick by Taproot reporter Colin Gallant. Colin recommends the 2026 Edmonton Arts Prize Presentation, which awards music, visual art, film, and literature.
2026 Edmonton Arts Prize Presentation
📅 Monday, May 4 6:30 PM
📍 Garneau Theatre
Join us for an evening of celebration and connection at the 2026 Edmonton Arts Prize Presentation! Gather at Metro Cinema to recognize some of our city's most exciting artistic talents and their work in music, visual art, film, and literature.
Here's what Colin had to say:
"I've interviewed many of the nominees for these prizes, and while I won't tell you who I'm rooting for, I'm stoked that Edmonton Arts Council gives cash prizes to the winners and the runners-up. Art is literally not a contest, and these awards reflect that. This event is free to attend and takes place at one of our most special venues, the Garneau Theatre, so there's little excuse not to show up and cheer on the incredible artists who make our city a more interesting place to live."

Fate is forged in fire
Siegfried is an epic coming-of-age story, where a young hero sets out to discover the world and who he is meant to become. Edmonton Opera brings this monumental story to the intimate Maclab Theatre at the Citadel, where you'll feel the full force of Wagner's music and the human story at its centre. See it on May 25, 27, 29, or 31.
